Twitter is definitely a tool to use in the classroom.
The attempt to use a new idea/program such as Twitter seemed arduous at first. I realized after spending the time to learn Twitter, adjusting to the new program became easier with the action research.
The students enjoyed themselves and learn hopefully as much as i have. In addition to my tweets i was also able to show @MalalaFund and share the story of Malala's courageous journey. By encouraging the students to expand their knowledge to what is going on in the community and in the world today, they may be able to make informed decisions and be better citizens.

Action Research Survey & Registering
I've decided to stick things out, Twitter it shall be.
Two classes have been selected for my action research; twelve Juniors and seventeen sophomores in all. Students were given a short survey that included questions based on technology usage and internet access at home and school. Parental consent forms were also given to students yesterday.
Today a few of my students were able to register on Twitter with the use of ipads. Luckily one student who had previously deactivated his account, came to the rescue and helped the others who had troubles with registering. For this research he reactivated his account. An issue we were able to overcome was to use a proxy site to gain direct access to Twitter. So far 12 students have managed to register and post a 'tweet', if that's what you call it. Some have already posted and have begun selecting who to follow.
I am still in the learning process. I would hope after this research i can be a more efficient Twitter user.

Action Research Journey
Its November 9, 2014 and i have not started my action research. The past 2-3 weeks have been encumbered by midterms, grades and science fair preparations. Time is short, considering how much we have left until the day of our school's science fair to which i am a department head for the science department trying to organize the science fair, teaching, and going to school at the same time. I should start as soon as possible, beginning this week, perhaps on wednesday with passing out surveys to the students. After the surveys i hope to have the students register for accounts on Twitter by the end of the week.
